synAllergy is very pleased to announce that Ms. Susan Taplin, DNP, RN, APN, FNP- BC has joined synAllergy as a Clinical Allergy Testing & Immunotherapy Instructor. Ms. Taplin is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a BS Degree in Nursing. She subsequently earned an MS Degree in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Belmont University.

Ms. Taplin brings to synAllergy a wealth of experience as a nurse, nurse practitioner, and a nurse educator. For over 10 years, she worked at Vanderbilt University Hospital as a nurse, clinical staff nurse, clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner, and research nurse. For the past 7 years, she has worked part-time as a nurse practitioner at Asthma and Allergy of Middle Tennessee and full time as a nursing instructor at Belmont University School of Nursing. In August of this year, Belmont University School of Nursing appointed Ms. Taplin to the position of Assistant Professor of Nursing.

Ms. Taplin served meritoriously in US Marine Corps Reserve. She served four years of active duty during Dessert Storm where she was assigned to the 6th Marine Corps District Casualty Assistance Team. She also served six years of reserve duty.

In 2005, Ms. Taplin spent a year in Phnom Penh, Cambodia as the Director of Nursing / Chief Clinical Officer at Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE. In this position, she developed a program to build the knowledge, skills, and operations of the Hospital’s nursing staff. She has since returned each year to Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE to work as a volunteer.

As a Clinical Allergy Testing & Immunotherapy Instructor, Ms. Taplin will be conducting allergy testing, provisioning, and immunotherapy training sessions for health care providers at family medicine and pediatric practices. She will also be involved in helping synAllergy enhance our training sessions and training materials.
